Python introduction

What is Python?

Python was created in 1991 by Guido van Rossum in 1991 and developed by Python Software Foundation. It was mainly developed for emphasis on code readability, and its syntax allows programmers to express concepts in fewer lines of code.  It is getting popular day by day, because of its usage and simplicity.

It is used for below purposes:

  • software development.
  • web development (server side).
  • system scripting.
  • mathematics.

You can use Python to

  • Create web applications (on a server side).
  • Create workflows alongside software.
  • Handle big data and perform complex mathematics and other task.
  • Production ready software development in a quick way.
  • Connect to database systems and modify files.

Why Python is getting popular?

  • It works on different platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux, Raspberry Pi, etc).
  • It got a simple syntax similar to the English language.
  • It has syntax that allows developers to write programs with fewer lines than some other programming languages.
  • It runs on an interpreter system, which make                                                                                                                             1. code can be executed as soon as it is written                                                                                                                     2.prototyping can be very quick.
  • It can be treated in a procedural way                                                                                                                                                 1. an object-orientated way                                                                                                                                                                                       OR                                                                                                                                                                                           2. a functional way.

Python Syntax in comparison of other languages:

  • It was designed to for readability, and got some similarities with English language and influence from mathematics.
  • It uses new lines to complete a command, opposed to other programming languages which often use semicolons (:) or parentheses ( {}, () ).
  • Python relies on indentation, using whitespace, to define scope; such as the scope of loops, functions and classes. Other programming languages often use curly-brackets for this purpose.
